25-06 factory loads?????
« on: October 22, 2007, 09:28:33 AM »
i just purchased a t/c pro hunter in the 25-06, my question is what is the most accurate factory load?  most of my shooting is Texas whitetail and some range shooting.  my average shots are 100yrd to 250yrds.  i have seen different postings suggesting the tc 25-06 barrels are hit and miss with different factory loads.  any would be appreciated!!!!

Every barrel and every firearm is a rule unto itself. What may shoot beautifully in one may group horribly in another. You'll simply have to experiment to see what your particular barrel prefers.

my new Encore (non Pro-Hunter)really likes the Winchester "Positive Expanding Point" 120gr and Federal Fusion 120gr. Both group an inch or less at 100yds with no mods to gun. I had horrible  results with both 100gr and 120gr Remingtons (both grouped 2-3.5 inches). I haven't tried any premium ammo, but did pick up some Federal's with Nosler Partitions I plan on trying. For now, I plan on deer hunting with the Winchester's.
