« on: September 30, 2007, 11:36:31 AM »
Found a Ruger Vaquero Bisley 44 Mag. in a local shop..5.5in. barrel great shape, except score marks on cylinder ..it has had a action job ...smooth as butter...and a slick finish on the gun.
Price check $400.00..Deal or no deal...???

pretty fair price.  stianless or blued?  Those "score marks" are on each and every used Ruger.  call them character lines.

Ok , you still got a very fair price.  You didn't steal it but you didn't get hurt on it at all either.  Now another Q or 2...box?  what grips?  Asking just becasue there were some of these that were shipped with the ivory looking grips.  These can sometimes command a slight premium over the regular wood gripped ones.   There's a bunch out there since they made them for a few years but most seem to hold onto them now.  They're pretty popular in the cowboy crowd.  Heck the Bisley parts alone can fetch $130 +/-.  Nope don't worry, you did good.  :)

I have not purchased it yet...there thick wood grips,I'll have to take them down or buy some thinner ones...small hands..

I would go back and get it. They are sure getting harder and harder to find! I paid 400 for a Stainless Steel 45 Colt and was glad to get it....

I agree with 2 dogs the days of 300 dollar bisleys has passed us by. Your not going to find a good one for under 400 bucks anymore.

The Bisley vaqueros no, your right, they'll be up over that $400 mark usually.  I have found and bought two regular Bisley's this yer that were under both tagged at $350. One in .357, the other .41 magnum.  Neither had boxes but were in 95% condition.  I still think they have another .357 one for under $400.  Just gotta know where to go and be lucky when you go there.
Just as a comparison, I got my consec #ed .357 Acusports for under $900/pr.  and a couple other Acusport models for under $425.
