300 grn castcores for whitetails?
« on: November 08, 2007, 02:10:23 PM »
I sighted my superredhawk for this load to hunt pigs with, and the ole ruger shoots them well.I am thinking lack of expansion and heavy weight may be over kill for oklahoma whitetails. But there are pigs in the area too,and I really would like to take a deer with this gun. Thanks for the help and good luck to yall this hunting season!

I would imagine that you will not be disspointed with one through the vitals or even heavy bone like shoulders or end to end even... that is the beauty of it..
that is about what I am counting on in my 45 calibers.. how fast are they travelling ? I don't expect a problem with that weight and no expansion.

I really like the 300 grain CastCore as well. I carry it as a bear protection load in my 4 inch Taurus 44 Magnum. They should be a top pick for hogs. May be a bit much for deer but if you have hogs in your area I would feel pretty good with the CastCore's in the 44.
