Black Mag 3
« on: August 23, 2007, 01:44:39 AM »
I'm getting real low on BM3.  Is there any place to buy it now?  I used to get it at Cabela's but they stopped carrying it.  I've checked the website and it has a link for MDM muzzleloaders but they don't show it on the web site.

I have been trying to order some Black Mag for months. The information I have gotten is that Magkor and MDM are merging and right now you cannot get any powder. Hopefully they will resolve their merge soon and start selling a product. The only advice I can give you is to be patient and send e-mails to both companies.

That is why I use powders that are always available and in my opinion better than Black Mag.  There is a reason besides the merge that people stopped carrying Black Mag, no one was buying it when it was available.

redhawk, what are you using?  I've tried the T7 and American Pioneer Powder.  I've had the best luck with the BM3 and a 250 grain shockwave out of my Encore

Don't want to start a big argument; however, the main reason no one was buying it is that it has never been available except for a few places back east. Distribution has been the biggest problem. Black Mag'3 worked better in my Omega than Tripple Seven or Pyrodex. I got better groups higher velocity less felt recoil and no crud ring or fouling. The information that it is not available yet is correct as they are directing all powder to the MDM Thundercharge which I personally think is a big mistake. The loose powder is however in my opinion the best powder that my Omega ever had in it. I hope they will get the base loose powder back on the market and hopefully with some distribution system worked out. Otherwise I will have to retire the Omega and switch to my Whites as they will shoot almost anything.
