Why don't you propose a trade? I am sure there are folks around that would love to have a stock just like yours and would be willing to trade the one they have for yours. I have a heavy stocked Stevens and a light weight one. Both in 223, one is for totein' and the other one is for benchin' and short walks. If you get a lighter weight stock you may have to open the barrel channel. I am not sure, but I think you need to post in another forum for a trade. I think that Bell & Carlson makes one in the $100 range that would be lite as do others, but can not a test to its quality. I think you will find that in the cheaper lite weight stocks there will be parting lines, that I do not like. I just sand them down until smooth and paint with Krylon Fussion paint. They look real good after that. One other thing If you get a Savage "take off" stock the new ones are all have pillar bedding.
I have edited this to include; A light weight stock may save you 1 - 1 1/2 pounds. You will find that a lot of your weight is in the barrel.
