Range day for 7MM RM, 358 and 6MM
« on: October 19, 2007, 01:43:25 PM »
Well my 6MM is an old friend, a M98 mauser with a Douglas 24 inch barrel and a 4X leupold mounted.  I worked down some loads with the 95 grain ballistic tip bullet. Down because the charges used under the 100 grain Sierra Gamekings and corelokts were too hot for the 95 grain BT. Happily all three loads hit to the same POI and a composite group of 2 shots  each was under MOA.  Next the 358. Iwas sighted in for the 250 grain Speer on top of 46.0 grains of 748 and I wanted to resight it in for 200 grain bullets. The 250's hit much lower than the 200 grain Hornady Spire points loaded on top of 45.0 grains of 3031, it took 27 clicks to get them hittin where I wanted em. I had written this down when I sighted in  with the 250's and the Mueller 2x7 multi shot repeated perfectly. This all took only 6 shots. They would all fit inside 2 inches. The 7MM RM has a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 on it, great glass but I have already sent it back for not holding it's zero. It would not repeat today so back it goes to Nikon.
