Accu-Trigger vs CZ's SS
« on: October 14, 2007, 04:09:18 AM »
Fans:
Going to pop for .204 and have never shot using either the Accu or the SS trigger systems.  Wonder if I could get a comment or two with some pro's and con's of these two types.  Thanks.

Along with that I'm thinking about the Savage 12bvss or the 12vlp OR the CZ 527 Varmint.  Am closer to 80 than 70 and do all my shooting from a bench and a few rounds on paper but 99+% on the prairie, dusting PD's.   I do have and use a Savage .223 and a Ruger 22-250 but these shooters are too tough on my poor shoulders.  DG

I cannot do you an exact comparison with the 204 but.. I have the 204 in VLP. This rifle is a little heavy to carry but great from the bench. The accutrigger is light and easy to use, I really like it. The rifle hardly kicks at all, even the weakest of shoulders would find it a delight to fire. I have a CZ in 243 with the set trigger. The set trigger is nice and light but the regular trigger is a bit rough, IMHO. Setting the CZ trigger would be a nuisance in a target rich environment as well, remembering to do it each time. From a bench, I would go with the Savage VLP.

I don't own a .204, but I do have two Savages with Accu-triggers. One in 17 HMR, the other in .300 WSM. They are among the most accurate rifles that I own, and the least expensive. They can most certainly be had for less than any CZ. The CZ is nice, but they have not out-shot my Savages.

I have a Model 14 Savage and a 550 CZ.  I find shooting from the bench the CZ has a much better trigger.  In hunting (to me) it's a mixed bag.  Only way to set the trigger on the CZ is to move it forward.  You can do this before you set out to hunt but if you make a follow up shot you are just not going to have time (I think) to set the trigger again.  So with that your first shot would be with a light pull and your second would be much heavier with much more creep.  The Accu trigger stays the same shot after shot but I am not able to get the same light trigger like on the CZ.  My CZ will break at about 1.5 pounds which I love.  Again the bench rifle would be the CZ and the hunting rig would be the Savage.
