Scope for 300 win
« on: October 19, 2007, 02:06:18 PM »

Just picked up a 300 win mag, looking to put a decent scope on it.
Combination of both open and woods hunting.
I've already got a couple of Conquests in 3-9x40 great scopes, just a tad bulky for this rifle.
Thinking Leupold VX111 2.5-8x36; Leupold 3.5-10x40 or Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x40.
Never owned a Nikon Monarch how does it compare to the Leopold VX111 and Conquest?
Many Thanks

I've got the LVXIII  3.5x10x40 on mine.  A VXII 4x12x40 is also a good choice.

Since you seem a bit concerned over the size of the scope "just a tad bulky for this rifle." I think the Leupold VX111 2.5-8x36 is the only one you mention that is likely to be smaller than what you now have. They are excellent scopes and I have several of them in use on my rifles.
