IM - nice hoggy you have there - I'd be smilin' too.  45s work well on Javelinas.  I used my 45 on Javelina when I was in the Army serving in Central and South America.  The 38 Super also works very well.  I used to have fun deciding which one I would use those days I would go out lookin' for them.

Yours looks like it may have taken a lung shot.  What load were you using???  Mikey.

i carry mine for back up whitetail hunting and have used it to dispatch downed game at close range. 230 grain Golden Sabers work well.

This pig was quartering away from me at 55 paces.  I pulled the shot a little bit and the bullet hit him in the neck and exited out his eye on the off side.  My bullet was a cast 200 grain semi-wad cutter.  I think next time I will use 185 grain jacketed hollow points.

excellent job with the 45 auto:I myself load the 200 grain xtp with 7.1 grains of unique FPS should be around 950 out of my mil spec 1911 5" barrel and would not hesitate to take aim on a whitetail out to 40 yards broadside shot;I would think I could get 2 shots off before he new what hit him and would say he won't go far.I think for longer distance my 41 mag: would be a better choice out to 50 yards without any problems.
I have taken deer out to 75 yards using my 44 mag: S@W 629 and my Ruger blackhawk also have taken deer with the 45 long colt
back in the 70's and 80's.I become a B/P flintlock hunter the last 8 years and enjoy hunt with the flintlock:
