Need Help With A Sight Issue
« on: October 16, 2007, 02:43:57 PM »
Hey guys, somebody out there must know this.

My Zouave has a 3-leaf military sight. Inside the top of the sight base is a disk-looking feature with two holes that seems to be for a two-pronged tool. What is this???

A windage adjustment?? (Doesn't seem likely because I don't see how the sight could move much if at all.)

A mounting screw?? A lock down screw?? (The rear of the sight is dovetailed into the barrel with a small dovetail - 1/4" or so.)

Semisane, Had one of those, its a mounting screw and nothing more. Unfortunately, like nearly all weapons of that era/type there was no method for windage adjustment. If its necessary to adjust for windage you can mix up some colored acraglass nad fill the notch and recut. Did it with my P-53 Enfield and it worked pretty well.
