Mossberg trigger gaurd fitting

Does anybody out there know a good way to trim/fit a plastic replacement trigger guard for those old Mossberg bolt action shot guns? I am doing a rehab on an old 20 ga. for a buddy. Thanks for any ideas. dinger

Fitting plastic is a pain but a fine cut file will usually leave the least amount of marks to polish out later. After fitting the dull surface can usually be brightened with a bit of polyurethane finish. I use a wipe on variety and just a tiny bit. Too much may soften the part. Be sure to wax the part after fitting to help protect it a bit.

hey, gunnut69, thanks for the reply/info. i will be putting it to use after deer season is over and before my Missouri buddy gets spring turkey fever. he walloped a fair gobbler with that old 20 ga. fall of '05 with a 2 and 3/4" load of 6's at 25 yards. it's been our habit to still hunt turkeys like you would a white-tail. we had seen these birds feed through this area before so my buddy built a blind from natural materials and waited. worked just fine. thanks again,dinger
