Where are all the CT turkey?
« on: October 20, 2007, 04:31:18 PM »
??? I've been out a few times and have yet to lay eyes on a turkey. Not even a return gobble. With just over a week left to fill my tag, I'd be appreciative if someone could point me to an area where I might have a chance! Thanks.

Fall turkey hunting is an entirely different beast.  You probably won't hear any gobbling and the turkeys will be in large groups.  You've just got to cover lots of ground, especially in the first and last hours of light and figure out where they're roosting.  Sometimes, on a calm night, you can hear them fly up from a reasonable distance.  That's what I do when I'm looking for them in big woods where it's hard to scout.
