Bent ramrod

How do you repair a bent ramrod thats twisted in two different directions? Cant replace it. Its for a winchester/Hotchkiss model 1878,45/70 bolt action rifle,USN.?

Horse-pukey.  If man made it, man can remake it.

Measure the length & diameter of the original, and make (or have made) a duplicate from either a hardwood dowel or steel drill rod, and tranfer the old/genuine ends/tips to the new rod. If the original end(s) are integral to the shaft of the ramrod, then have the clone softened, swedged to shape/size, and re-hardened.

It's not likely hardened so would most likely be fixable by cold forging. A lead block and a concave punch would likely be the tools to use. Forge to straight in on direction then the other.. After fairly straight an anvils flat can be used to fine tune. Be cautious when forging on a flat as you can create flat spots on the round round..
