Peep sight / Scope question
« on: December 01, 2007, 07:36:06 AM »
Is there a see through scope mount that would allow me to use a peep sight?  Didn't T/C used to make a barrel mount peep sight for the Encore 50 cal?  I could find none on their web site.
Williams makes a peep for the Encore.  Is there a see through mount that is low enough to still see through the peep?

The peep sight is nothing more than an "open sight". If you mount the weaver base on the barrel, and can still see down the rear sight, then you could use a set of scope mounts like these http://www.cabelas.com/spodw-1/0012625.shtml but that's provided that you also can get the peep sight "squeezed" onto the barrel.

The only thing I don't like about see thru's is they have a tendency to raise your cheek off of the stock when your trying to look thru the scope. This can make for a "wobbly" hold on the target.

If you concerned about you scope "going south" and then switching to open sights, or you don't like using a scope in foul weather, then consider using the new scope quick release mounts. http://theopticzone.com/detail.aspx?ID=2581 I have a few friends who use these and they swear by them....not at them.

One of these would work good with Quick release rings     https://www.eabco.com/cgi-bin/shopper.exe?preadd=action&key=127-812
