Looking for a walnut stock for my 336
« on: September 30, 2007, 03:10:59 PM »
Rifle came with a birch stock and I'm looking for a walnut to replace with?
Rifle was made in 1966, if that matters.
Both Gun Parts and Brownells seem too high for me?

That's on a par with both Gun Parts and Brownells.  Maybe I'm better off just staying with the birch?

Contact Treebone Carving, the custom Marlin stocker, and see if he's got any issue take-offs F/S.

Rangr44, I emailed and asked him. Now I'll just wait to see what he's got. Thanks for the idea and help.

This post sounds like the poster has a Marlin stock for sale.

It's off a late Model 1894, but they are identical to, and fit (with the minor adjustments all stocks need) all 336's - given also, straight-grip-for-straight-grip & pistol-grip for pistol-grip.

I ordered one from Numeric Gun Parts and it came todays post. Looks brand new, has a red rubber butt plate and no white line spacers as their advertisement said on their website and has the bullseye(so I think it's a Marlin original). Wood gain could be matched to the original fore arm wood with no problem? A little too much metal showing below at the lever but, I'm please with it and I'll keep it. Thanks to all who responded to this post and helped in my quest. Steve
