Want to share a few!
« on: October 27, 2007, 11:19:55 AM »
Hi all, haven't been on the forum for a while. Been very busy, but have a few pic's to share from a few trips back home.

First pic of two very nice, like we SA guys call "shipguns" ;D That opened one of our Blackpowder Muzzle loading shooting competitions. They shot 1" cast iron roundballs that day.

My daughter opening another  BP ML compitition firing two of my .50's

Here are they up close(remember we don't get Goex in SA, so there isn't a tin for comparison  :-[ )

and here the girls shoot them on a camping trip

Another one of the family, also .50

...and another .50

....and another .45

...and a .50 mortar

Two soda can mortars at one of the shoots

Very nice photos indeed.  How do you get 1" cast iron ball ammo?  What powder charge do you use?  How big are your targets and at what range?  Great looking .50 cal guns too.  How much do they weigh?  Love that skeletonized garrison carriage too.  Great pics; thanks for sharing them!!

M&T, sorry but I didn't get into the details of those guns and their 1" ammo. Was to busy sorting the women folk for the competition. All I know about them is that they are casted and have very nice detail on them. Will look if I can get some more pic's of them. Planning to buy one myself! Will try and get hold of the owner and get more detail on them. They just shot a few rounds into the mountain aiming at a big boulder about 400m away.

On my mini's, never weighed them, sorry  :-[.  That Blooms berg is a bronze casted gun and transport carriage iron casted.

Thanks for the info.  You are certainly correct that they have nice details on them!!  I bet there's a bunch of guys out there who would want to hear a bit more about these beauties.  With the price of bronze these days, you will probably have more than a few Rand in one of those!  Thanks again.

Wow, those are nice looking tubes!  :o They look a bit big for 1" but it's hard to tell.  I'm sure there's there's a Pacific Northwest Pirate that would just love to have one of them...... ;D  ;D  ;D

 Thanks for sharing the photos.

This is one of the guns he built. Don't have any detail on it but will make a plan to get it.
