Confused on the hunting/fishing regs? - 1-888-WDNR-INFO

1-888-WDNR-INFO

7AM-10PM, 7 days a week.

Call this toll free DNR info hotline and you'll get a person who will answer all of your questions on all of the extreemely confusing regulations. Press 1 for eengleesh and a quick options menu, and within 20 seconds you'll be talking direct to a person who answers all of your many questions. If they can't answer, they'll direct you to the head state conservation warden who quite surely will be able to get you an answer. This is the guy who all the other wardens go to with their questions in trying to interpret today confusing and endless regulations.

I just got off the phone with him myself. He answered a somewhat complex question with explicit clarity.

I post this as a public service, as I hate seeing guys get fined for something petty and/or something they thought was legal, but made an honest mistake.

Maybe as further public service, post your questions and answers here so everyone can learn or otherwise get a heads up.

My question to the hotline was regarding hunting with rifles at night for wild hogs, durring an archery season. I was surprised to find out it is indeed legal to hunt at night (for coyote, coon, unprotected species) with rifles durring an archery season. The only time this in NOT legal is durring the 9 day deer gun season plus the friday before the opener.

the regs for the last few seasons have been ridiculous to say the least. My daughter wants to be a lawyer, figure if she can decipher the regs she's got a pretty good shot!
