Hunting with Celebrities
« on: January 02, 2007, 05:21:52 AM »
;) Howdy!  Have you ever had the opportunity or ever wanted to quail or pheasant hunt with a celebrity?  If so, what all is involved to getting a hunt set up, etc.?  I guess I have watched too many hunting shows since we got satellite TV service recently. However, I am interested in your views, comments, etc.  They are always appreciated. Thanks!
Happy Trails!
Always,

I did once. He was an outdoor writer whose name I have forgotton. When I met him I recognized the name right away but after spending a day with him, I became completely disallusioned. This guy was doing an article on phesant hunting and knew squat about dogs or hunting. He was also flaky as hell!

I haven't as yet, however If I was to ask I'm sure Tom Knapp, would be more then happy to have me do a hunt with him. Tom is the national spokes person for Hunters Helping Hunters (HHH).  He has offered to hunt with some of our board members a couple of times. 8)

I hunt with Cale Yarborough, the old NASCAR driver often.  He owns a farm near my parts and we often hunt on each other's land.  You wouldn't recognize him in his hunting duds.  He's no different than anyone else.  He puts his britches on one leg at the time like I do.

I had an opportunity to do a filmed hunt with former Chiefs QB Tony Adams several years ago.  Since he no longer produces shows I never see myself on TV anymore, but apparently the episode is still available online http://www.discovertheoutdoors.com/heartland/streaming/ (it's the Missouri Goose Hunt).  It was a great deal of fun and we had a tremendous couple of hunts.  We were goose hunting, so we didn't have to deal with moving around but it was still difficult to hide the camera in a way that the cameraman could still get good film of the birds in the air.  The guy who set the hunt up is a former calling champion and was trying to expand his line of custom calls.  I think if you're trying to get exposure for yourself of your place getting on TV is a great way to do it.

Clint Walker---how cool is that? What ever happened to that guy? I saw him on a hunting trip with Curt Goudy on ABC's The Wide World of Sports. I'm probably dating myself now. Anyway, I thought "what a great day that would be to spend it with those two guys". Don
