Rossi 243 barrel question, Need Help !
« on: February 22, 2007, 12:01:32 PM »
Today i shot my new Rossi trifecta with the 243 barrel, I tried 2 different scopes and 4 kinds of ammo. The best 3 shot group at 100 yards was around 6" off the bench, what is the deal ?  I cleaned the barrel well before shooting. Here is another question , on the 22 lr barrel and the 20 ga. barrel on the bottom of the lug that holds the barrel to the receiver there is a slot cut, and on the side of the lug there is a hole with a small pin in the hole, there is neither on the 243 barrel lug, just an empty hole on the side of the lug. Did the factory screw up on the 243 barrel ? If anyone has a Rossi with a rimless centerfire barrel could you please check the lug and let me know what yours looks like ? Thanks !

Have the head-space checked. I had one doing the same thing and what we called a Heck no don't go gauge went in and the action closed and fired. You could almost chamber a 270 win in it so the head-space was way to big. Hope you find out the problem.
