Break in?
« on: November 04, 2007, 04:32:48 AM »
I have a new .243 barrel and have shot about 1 1/2  boxes through the thing. I have cleaned it after every 3 shots. The first shot is always in the bull the next 2.......Who knows!
What is it going to take to get this thing shooting good on the second third and fourth shot?
BTW  It is a heavy barrel.

NEF/H&Rs and a lot of other rifles are notorious for needing a fouling round or two before shooting to the same POI, no secret there, just don't clean it before you hunt with it, I've been doing that for the better part of 50yrs with all my rifles, zero it, then leave it dirty until the season is over or it gets wet needs to be cleaned.
