I have a 375 win 14" with 4x scope and it shoots good groups and will knock whitetail down hard.I have not got a shot at a bull yet but  it should do the job.My longest shot was 150 yards the whitetail never seen it coming.I think alot of guys shoot 220 grain and up bullets but the 200 grain sierra are my favorite.I have loaded the heavy stuff 220gr up to 265gr they shoot well but the 200 will do anything i need to do.You will really like the 375 win i think.Good luck.

I got a 12 in. Hunter, with a 2x scope. I only have done load testing with it. At 50 yards I get a 3 shot group, that you can cover with a nickle. With 220 gr. Hornady FP, and Reloader 7. I can not wait to shoot it some more. Great  shooter, you will love it. Steve

I have the 12" hunter barrel in 375 Win. It shoots great and hits hard. It is accurate and the 220 and 235 grain bullets are great bullets. The muzzle tamer barrel is loud, but it really isn't that much louder than my 45-70 14".

I think the 375 Win might be about the best chambering in the Contender IMO.

I have a stainless 14" with no brake.  Recoil is not bad, and the noise is far less than the models with brakes.  I like to 220 gr. Hornady for whitetails...that's a huge, soft, round piece of lead that is capable of knocking the snot out of a lot of creatures.  I love my .375 and would recommend it to anyone!
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)

Picked up a 14inch 375 with brake a few months ago.It has become my favorite barrel out of all the barrels i have.I tried 6 differnt powders and found the re-7 the best of all.I shoot 220 hornady's into 1"to 2" groups 100 yards all day long.AA 1680 under .379 hard cast 2"to 3" 100yds all day.Hope to try more than paper in the future. The recoil with brake is much lighter than my 10 inch 44 mag with 300gr hard cast. The 3031 works pretty darn good too.2400 works better with hard cast than jacketed.H322 around 3" groups. The thing i like the best about the re-7 in my barrel is i can go from 30gr to 35gr and accuracy stays the same.Thats a big difference so i never will have to worry about small differeces in powder throws.

for the info guys.  I have not seen any .375 used barrells anywhere in my area, and have been debating back and forth on what I want for my next barrell.   Are brass and bullets easy to find?   Thanks again,  I think there is a gun show coming up soon down here.

I have a S14 and really like it.  I cannot comment on my groups because I shoot it with open sights.  I did just buy a Williams peep for it to see how that works.  Graf and Sons always has the brass and bullets in stock.  I got mine from Eds last year about this time.  I think the last list I got from him a couple of weeks ago had a couple on it, give him a call.  From what I have seen at gun shows lately, Ed will be cheaper if he has it.

Finding bullets and brass should be no problem.  I ordered 100 pieces of brass from Midway...price was around $25 or a little more, as I recall and availability was fine.  Bullets should be no problem either.

I bought my barrel about 8 months ago... a brand new stainless 14" no brake off of Auction Arms.  Paid around $215 for it, which I thought was pretty darn cheap.  GET ONE!  You will love it!

appreciate all the responses.  I think a .375 might be a good addition, or next barrell for me.   I have been kicking around all kinds of caliber barrells for a year or more now, and guess if I find a good deal on one soon, I might just get it.    Then of course dies, brass, bullets etc..

The .375 is one of my real favorites as I have three factory barrels. A 21"blue, 21" stainless, and a 14" stainless hunter. In Iowa we have to use a straight wall case for handgun deer hunting. The .375 really flattens them.

Hey Guys_____ Just curious ,I'm new to Ballistics, what can a 375 do within 100 yds. that a 10 inch heavy loaded 44 can't do,plus you have  readily available   components,I really can understand getting a 375 for the (just because factor),THANKS BAYRUNNER

Don't forget the 375JDJ if you want some real fun.  Also, the 357MAX could be a nice straight wall for Iowa whitetails!

I have a 21" tube that Fred at Bullberry made for me some time back in .375 Win. for my Contender frame.  He also made the custom stock and forearm from a piece of walnut I shipped him.

With a Burris Signature Posi-lock 1.75x6 scope, I average MOA to 1.25 MOA at 100 yd. using W-W brass, 235 gr Hornady SP, 39.2 gr H322 and a WLR primer.  Velocity avg is 2250 fps.

Have carried it afield several times, have yet to shoot anything more live than paper - there's always hope!

Well Bayrunner one of the most important differences is obvious. You look just plain out right COOL sticking than long case in a pistol.Have'nt gotten to try mine out on game yet so i can't speak of that.I have a 14inch 375 with brake dont have a 10inch 375 no brake to compare.I have ran the 375 and the 10inch 44mag over the crono getting around 250fps more with 375.Of course 44 has more mass. The biggest thing i have noticed and like is the 375 has less kick and less bullet drop being both full house loads. Bullet drop is not a factor with either under a hundred yards when hunting big game. The biggest area i see is when shooting the smaller rams at long ranges.I shot 41mag for years and used to say what can you're 44 do that my 41 cant.Even though i'am getting older and rounder I know i can pick up the 375 go to the range and look ooh so COOL LOL

A couple of years ago, I killed a nice 180 lb. black bear in the state of Maine with a 14" .375 Winchester. I actually shot it with a 200 grain factory load at around 15 yards. Maine isn't noted for its long shots. The bear folded up and died. It was a clean kill. That is the only experience  I have with shooting a live animal with the 375. I would like to do more if possible.

I really like the 375 win.  I've had it several years and haven't killed anything, but paper.  3" at 50 yards with open sites.  That isn't bad for me.  I am still getting use to the kick, since it is the biggest hitter I have.  It normally takes a shot or two to get me settled in and then it is all over. I have a 2x leapold to go on top that will get me more range.  That, plus more range time will make me more comfortable with the round out to at least 100 yards.  Should be a great hog gun and will be the main barrel used this coming season.  Get you one and you will never look back.
