.35 Whelen Factory ammo??
« on: October 12, 2007, 03:38:29 PM »
Looking for some .35 Whelen factory ammo and looking at the Double Tap 200 TSX or the Nosler Custom 225IB.  Any experience with either??  Need something for whitetails here in MI.

I am leaning towards the Double Tap stuff??

Thanks!

Mark

My guess is that there isn't a factory load that wouldn't do good work for whitetails in Michigan.

I have used the DoubleTap 200gr load.  It was instant death on a 4x4 muley last year.  Very accurate in my Rem 700.

Thanks Tim
that and the fact that they are comparing it to the338mag
tells me that i have absolute no need for a 35 whelen.
my 280rem will do anything i will be doing

There is no need for more than standard factory ammo from Remington.  I like the 250 grain PSP load if it is still available out there.  I have two cases and haven't bought more in years.  The nice thing about a 250 grain bullet at 2400 fps is that you don't need more than a factory Remington or handloaded Speer bullet.  The Double Tap and Nosler ammo are excellent insurance for an expensive hunt, if you are away from home.
