Re-Chambering a Barrell - 22 Hornet to 219 Zipper????
« on: June 28, 2003, 01:57:42 AM »
Gentlemen:

I am new here so be easy!!  I have an Encore 22 Hornet rifle barrell, and I was wondering if I could have it re-chambered for a 219 Zipper.  Any thoughts on this subject??

Thank you,
Grizzy57

I don't see why it wouldn't work.  The only kicker might be the bore diameter.  I've heard there is a lot of variability in the Hornet bores??  A floating pilot reamer would be in order.  Also barrel diameter at the chamber end may be getting a bit thin for safety.  Just curious, why would you want to chamber to such a relatively obscure wildcat? Also pressures and thrust loads must be kept in the safe zone for the contender.  You might just want to consider buying an Encore in 22-250..
