Mountain Rifle stock on ADL?
« on: November 06, 2007, 01:28:12 PM »
Can I use a LA mountain rifle stock on an LA ADL?  The mountain rifle stock is made by Bell and Carlson.  Maybe I should have asked them before ordering it ???

wouldn't the mountain rifle stock have a drop magazine cut out in the bottom?  The ADL has a blind magazine.

I don't think the Mtn. Rifle stocks are made by B&C if they were I'd NEVER have owned on. I hate B&C stocks and will never own another. The original Mtn. Riflle stocks were walnut and then became laminate on the LSS rifles and the DM models were still walnut. Now there were a very few made two years with plastic stocks but they sure didn't strike me as B&C work. Dunno what you've got but doubt it's B&C if on a Remington Mtn. Rifle.

Years ago I picked up a Mountain Rifle stock at a gun show.  There was a large selection because the stocks came from a outfit that customizes Remington 700 actions.  I had cut the ADL stock down for my son.  It came in the original Remington carton, nice figured walnut, with a recoil pad on it.  While it could have been a bolt on transfer I choose to glass the action.

I realize your question relates to a plastic stock.

The family gunnut tried to talk me out of it without success.  But I did give him the cut down stock for when his son reached the age. :D

Found my own answer.  I had ordered a B&C stock that goes on a mountain rifle, and was going to put an ADL barrel and receiver in the stock.  Called B&C and they said it would not work, that the mountain rifle barrell was thinner and the ADL would not fit.  They also said there was not enough material to modify it.  Called the vendor and changed my order.  Almost bought a stock that I could not use.
