Yep! Sat morning, i passed on a forkhorn and a small doe on public ground hoping to take my daughter back there that evening to look for em. I think both of them got shot by another hunter after they passed by me and there were plenty of other shots too close for comfort so decided not to take her back there. Took her to some private ground that wasnt as promising deer sign wise but definitely safer. Close to dark, 3 does came running in, one bigger than the rest. I get my daughter set up and ready to shoot but she tells me she doesnt want to shoot because of the noise when she shot at a buck during the youth hunt. (wish I'd have known it was going to bother her that bad cause I would have brought her hearing protection.) I tried several times to gently coax her into taking a shot without pushing her and she didnt want to so i finally asked her if she wanted me to shoot one and she seemed relieved to be off the hook. The biggest one had been standing with her butt facing us behind a tree for about 10min now looking back from where they came in which had me wondering if a buck was coming so i waited for quite awhile but nothing ever followed them in. Finally I got tired of her sticking her head out from behind the tree and the next time she did, I put one just below her ear. Needless to say she went right down and the other two ran around for a bit still giving us shots but I still could not talk her into it. She was excited to have been there for the hunt and the kill and REALLY wanted to put her tag on it and I had to explain to her that she has to be the one pulling the trigger before she can put her tag on one. It's OUR deer though! lol Took her to another spot tonight with the hearing protection and she was ready to take a shot at a doe that came in but just never slowed down to give her a chance so I think she will keep after it now. She even asked on the way out of the blind if we were gonna come back tomorrow. Gotta love that!
