First Day Jitters
« on: November 09, 2007, 03:00:02 PM »
I went goose hunting for the first time this year this week.  Not much flying but we had a flock of about 60 cup into and fly into our decoys.  I shot three times, my buddy twice.

I am embarrassed to say that we did not do very well.  We dropped two but should have had a limit each.  :(

Hopefully our shooting will get a little better before next time.

Either way, it was nice to be back in the wheat fields.

Going after some ducks in the AM.  We need cold weather as it is supposed to be 80 on Sunday.

:D yup, it happens. I seem to miss the first one I shoot at every year.......I don't know why, but I do.After that though I do very well. Our season opens again on Nov. 22nd and goes to Dec 12th. Right now we have a lot of geese around, but no good fields to keep them here.
Specklebelly, what  part of the country are you from? Sorry, I forgot.
Our highs here in Michigan have been around 50 degrees lately.

I am in Central Oklahoma.  Right now that is considered the land of no waterfowl.

I went after ducks this morning and we saw very few.  I left with a shoveler and my friend shot a green head.  It is supposed to be freezing this time of year and all I wore was a camo shirt.  Slow start to the year for me.

With these gas prices I may hold off on going as often until we get some better weather.

Send some cold fronts down to us please.

LOL.......I'd like to send you all of them.Don't feel too bad, our ducks around here are far and few between.I might go out in the morning to check the ducks,..but was not much shooting this morning.
I live 1/3 mile from a game area......crow island to be exact. My hunting partner owns all the land on our west side of crow island. We do very well on the ducks and geese.
I have got a few shovelers before, not the best eating but you can cook them up good.
Was warm here today also, maybe in the high 50's.
