Just got back from trying out a neighbor's sportster setup and can't wait to start my own collection!
(I used to shoot a full stocked 22 Hornet as a kid, and I know I am reverting back to roots but...what the heck!)
The first rifle was in 25-06, and set up in a Choate varmint stock.
He had added an adjustable SKS cheekrest, (from ATI that goes for under 10bucks) and it really helped with the scope line up for me.
Second set-up was a 45-70 Buf-gun....... ULTIMATE long range finality!
He also has four other barrels/stock combos that we tried out, but this 25-06 and fiber stock balanced well with my upside-down left sholder sling carry mode.
(I know it looks kind of cheap/crappy but with a good spray-bomb camo I think it would work.)
I think the 25-06 will work for me on woodchucks/yotes.
Is this round just under .308 specs. or closer to .223?
(Everybody around here uses 22-250, and I am looking for more knockdown for yotes around 250 yards.)
Any help would be appreciated, because I am now getting the old money in the pocket burning,...hand shakes, and need to get a winter gun building project going.
