When you put tape over the barrel because of rain can you just shoot with the tape on over the tip of the barrel?

Yes, the column of air between the bullet and the tape will push the tape off long before the bullet reaches it.

Yes, I do it all the time. The pressure blows it off before the bullet ever gets there.

I have also put a child's small round balloon over the end of the barrel before. Shreds it off when you fire and doesn't affect accuracy at all.
