The trigger is a little on the heavy side. Around 5-6lbs. I'm guessing. But I don't think I'll worry about it till I order a new hammer spur with a lower profile, if I do.
The old style hammer isn't a requirement to get the lower profile, and I don't know if you can get them in Canada either. I'd just do the trigger job using the two FAQ trigger job info. You can easily mount the factory hammer extension a little lower by taking a little off the bottom inside edges of the extension to allow it to fit lower on the hammer, that's easier than changing the hammer shoulder that the extension stops against, then take a little more off the hammer spur for scope clearance, but like I mentioned earlier, be sure the hammer extension clears the barrel release with the barrel mounted in the action, otherwise the extension will hit the release and won't fall all the way. You can take a little bit off the back edge of the barrel release to help with clearance if you have to, or just mount the extension a little higher, it's pretty easy to make final adjustments to make it work and still get the scope mounted as low as possible.
Congrats on the range report. I would highly recommend you try the 95gr Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silvertip ammo, specially for those 250-300yd shots which will require some serious practice at that range before you try them on game. The heavier bullets would be much more appropriate, their retained energy will be important for clean kills at that range. If the 80gr shoots the best, just get closer, which isn't a bad idea with any bullet to insure a clean kill.
