Clarification on barrel accessory program
« on: November 19, 2007, 12:12:36 PM »
I saw on the hr1871 page that you can put any barrel on a shotgun, except 10 ga, but not a rifled barrel. Can i put a tracker II barrel on my sons youth 28 (SB1-028) ?

Short answer: YES.  The Tracker II is a rifled shotgun slug barrel.
SB1 frame is a shotgun frame.  It will take any shotgun barrel except the 10ga and the 12 Ultra slug barrel.
SB2 frame is a rifle frame.  Its made stronger for use with rifle cartridge pressures.  SB2 will take all the same barrels as the SB1 + rifle barrels, too.
The 10ga frame is the odd ball.  It will only accept 10ga barrels and the 12ga Ultra Slug barrel.

But...The shotgun frame that will accept the 12GA Ultra Slugger and the 10GA Pardner barrels is also named the SB2.  So, you must be sure which SB2 frame you have should you ever come upon that problem.

The 10ga SB2 frame isn't marked SB2, just like all of H&R's frames are unmarked, the only way to tell an SB2 rifle frame from the SB2 shotgun frame is the firing pin and hole is bigger and the dimension of the inside of the frame is .100" wider for the 1.2XX" chamber swell of the 10ga shotgun or12ga slug barrels.
