At one point in my life I hunted Javelins regularly, but got away from it when I moved to this part of West Texas. With the exception of a few I ran across in the Big Bend area while rock hounding I hadn't seen one in years. Two years ago I begin seeing them on my place just West of Abilene TX, the game folks said they had migrated north due to the drought conditions in south Texas. My son killed a large boar last year, I had forgot how they smell, but we dressed it and cooked a portion of it. There was no way we could prepare it that it didn't retain some of the smell.........it was so bad the dogs wouldn't eat it.
Years ago when we killed one it went to an old Mexican lady who made it into tamales, she mixed it with venison or pork, they were very tasty, and with all the spice you didn't smell them. I won't be killing anymore until I find someone who can cook them...................does anyone know of an available, good looking, over sexed lady, who owns a bass boat, 4x4 and a liquor store and knows how to cook Javelin?
