527 American Mods....
« on: February 04, 2008, 04:19:07 AM »
First mod I had done is the bolt handle.  Sent it off to James Calhoon http://www.jamescalhoon.com/ and he milled down the bolt so it will clear the ocular lens of a scope that is mounted on Med rings.  (Rifle came with High rings for this reason).

Second mod is the magazine.  Sent the trigger guard/magazine well, magazine release and one magazine to Roy Bertalotto http://www.rvbprecision.com/articles/11/cz-527-rifle-magazine-conversion and he milled down one magazine and the trigger guard to allow a shortened magazine to fit nearly flush.  Most folks won't purchase a 527 because of the magazine protrusion.  The price you pay to have a nearly flush mag is a 3 round mag vice 5 round HOWEVER, the standard 5 round mag (which is shown in the second pic) will still work.

Before:

After:  (and a Double Coyotee call & 5 round mag)

I have a VX-III 4.5-14x40mm scope coming in a few weeks and then I'm sending the whole rifle off to get dipped in Mossy Oak Brush.

I shall call it........"THE SLAYER"

I met Roy personally, when I dropped off my bottom metal so he could do my 527-Lux, and he's a great guy.  I had my bottom metal back in less than a week, and couldn't be happier.
The spot refinishing, he did, looks no different than the factory finish on the rest of my rifle.

I carry an extra 5-round mag with me, but could really care less about the lowered mag capacity - since my 527's a Hornet I use for "walk-around" varminting & woods loafing.
