Anyone know how accurate a Savage Striker 17 HMR is? I am a little worried about the short barrel lenth.

Personally I don't know about the accuracy of the 17 HRM in the Striker but I really wouldn't worry.

If you go to the Fred Bullberry barrel site he has chronograph data on the 17 HRM with varying barrel lengths. According to his data , the highest velocity was obtained with a 18-19 " barrel. Above or below you start losing, but not by much. You'ld be surprised at the findings.

It is ironic that the Striker is made in Massachusetts, yet as a resident of the Commonwealth I cannot own one. The Atty Gen. said it isn't considered "safe" in his view. :evil:

I just got back from Mich where a friend of mine got one. He gots ? 3/4-1" at 75 yds. Not spectacular but it is a nice piece. Worhmonship is real nice. He likes it just fine! That's all that counts.

I've got the rifle version of the striker pistol and it is capable of 1 moa at 100yds. The pistol should be at least as accurate as the rifle, if you're triggerman enough to do it and have the proper optics. As was stated by BigBore, you should check out www.bullberry.com and look at the chart, you'll lose far less than what you expect. As far as .75-1" groups at 75yds with rimfire ammo in a pistol that cost as much as a decent pair of hunting boots, I'd say that's pretty damn impressive. Compare it to a .22 mag with premium ammo in a premium rifle and it becomes all the more impressive. My opinion, nothing more.

Don't know how long the barrel on the striker is, but I have a 14" Contender barrel. Accuracy is great and from what I have read it only loses about 100fps in the 14" barrel. Buy me a chronograph and I will check it for ya.

It may sound odd, but some hunters in Massachusetts are using this new round for coyote. I know many will admonish those who use this round for such and animal but with suburban sprawl, not many places left to shoot a centerfire. Those small woodlots are where this relatively quiet gun shines.
