Ruger Bisley .44
« on: October 23, 2007, 10:43:23 AM »
Last week Franks Sporting Goods (my lgs) had a Bisley used in 95%+ condition for $279 and I put it on lay-a-way.  After reading some horror stories about Boito Brazilian made shotguns, I traded my 20 ga Boito sxs in on the Bisley.  Just $55 to go, it will be home Friday!

probably the best bang for the buck on a hunting handgun ever and  you got a real good deal on that one.

Franks Sporting Goods in Morley, MI.  The next gun I have my eye on is a new in the box Herrett Commemorative Contender in 30 Herrett #299 of 500 for $675.  Christmas is coming!

Took the .44 Bisley out for a bit of shooting today.  After I got the feel for it I was hitting soup cans at 25 yards pretty easily.  I must admit that I was using light loads, 8 grains of Power Pistol behind 240 grain XTP's for something in the 900-950fps range.  I really don't think that Power Pistol does very well as light loads in a big case and will try the more recommended standards.  Also I have got to get my hands on some lead bullets, at nearly $20 a box of 100 XTP's they get old in a hurry.  I'll save my remaining supply of XTP's for H-110.  All in all, I can say that the Bisley is a keeper.

You're gonna love it! I've got three of them, and they're my favorite fun guns! Great gun, great caliber.

I have a 5.5" Bisley Vaquero that loves those MagTech 240-gr. SP. Haven't tried them in my huntin' guns yet, but when doing serious shootin with the Vaquero, it's my go to round.

I put a scope on mine recently, a trophy 2-6, at 50 yards getting about a 1.5" group with factory 240g XTPs and about 2.5-3 at 100 yards
that's from a bench of course

I have ordered my reloading stuff and will be playing around
that factory load shoots very flat at 50 and 100
I can hit a 3" shoot and see at 50 and 100 yards with it just holding dead on  (sighted in at 100)
