I would guess you need to change the action also.
The 06 case is quite a bit longer than the 308.

To start off I doubt the kit has a right side plate.  Thats the part with the serial number and a large part of what makes it a semi or machine gun.  Plus theres the issue of using full auto parts even to make a semi auto.  Then comes the assembly which is not as simple as screwing a few parts together.  The already manufactured semi auto types arent THAT expensive.  They start about $1100.oo then you have to think about a tri-pod.  Real U.S. tripods run about $600 plus T&E.  Ive seen cobbled together tripods for $200+/-.  If you want to avoid the tripod issue theres the A6 version with a shorter barrel, butt stock and a bi-pod; but they usually add about $500.oo to the purchase price.  Then theres cloth belts and links to think about.  Almost forgot a loading machine for the belts/links but you can live without that if you dont mind sore fingers.

My advice, is if you want one get it NOW (who knows what will happen after the election),  but buy one already assembled.  They transfer just like a rifle or shotgun, without any hassle.

Dont be put off, I love my belt feds.  Once you get one you'll be looking for the next.  There are MG34s and Mg42s, plus various water cooled guns and then you can even get semi auto M2s in 50BMG.  Ive even seen an upper from a MG34 that attaches to a AR15/M16 lower, it looks weird but if you have a legal full auto M16 you can fire it FA
