Hawk bullets vs. Nosler Partition-Any info?? For contenders?
« on: December 11, 2007, 02:43:43 PM »
In my 358 JDJ I've used 225 gr nosler partition bullets and they work great.  Hawk bullets Looks like they have a terrific bullet and I can have them make it with a thinner .025 jacket so it will expand at lower contender velocities.

Has anyone had experience with Hawk bullets?  How have they compared accuracy wise and performance wise to the Nosler partitions(spitzers)?
Or for that matter how do they compare to other bullets?

Any input on them will help me make a better decision.

Thanks,

Bob

Minnesota, I've used a BUNCH of Remington BULK round nose bullets in MY 358 JDJ with no problems. I have killed several deer and quite a few ground hogs with them. A poster on another forum shot a nice buck with a 180 cast gas checked bullet with HER 35x444. I personally did NOT see the difference in the Rem bulk and Nosler bullets. I tried them in the .358Win the 35 Rem and the 358JDJ so it wasn't just that gun.
I did notice that I got a LOT more shooting for the same money though. Maybe I'm cheap, but now I'm on a fixed income so cost is a BIG factor for me. I used several scopes on the guns when I worked up the loads. There was some difference in the quality of the scopes that was shown on the targets . I think the best scope is more important than an expensive bullet, but that's MY opinion.
