thanks giving hunt
« on: December 04, 2007, 06:11:10 AM »
well it was thanks giving day and i was going to the woods to do some shooting and to get to the woods i have to go by Michael house and  i see him loading up the pick-up. I stop and ask if he was going hunting and i also asks if i can come and with for. He is and it's for some turkeys, small game, and hogs and i can come if i want and i do. i go back home and get my field-master and 380 1934 and when he sees what i got he ask if i want to use one of his guns and i go inside to see what he has. there a 30/30 sears, rem 760 in 30/06, rem 710 in 300win mag, and i also see a old side by side 20ga shot gun. i say i going with i got and he gets the 20ga and we move out. on the way we talk and i find out he is form up north and his family has some good land up there also he grew up hunting elk and deer and he is a really good shot. when we got there he said let hunting together because there a lot of ground to cover. so we start out on turkeys and so i call and he shoots. after 2 hours of calling there 2 toms coming in but the bigger one stops at 100yards and didn't want to come any closer.  he was using a H&R in 22hornet and he could take the shot but liked it better at 75 yards or less so i try something i had hear would work. I put some bbs in my slingshot and fire over them. the tom ran closer and he was now at 50 yards and had stopped i was about to ask him something when his 22 cut my off. he was down and he put it in the cooler and he gets the 20ga and a 44 ruger in a belt hoslter. the plan was to kill some rabbits and whatever else we could find. the shooting was good and we got our limt of squrrels and then when we were by the water looking for hogs i saw a coon and i kill it with my 2200 airgun. I was going to leave it but he said it's good meat and took it. we found no hogs but we hunted and try each others guns and I had a good time.( told me his ruger was his grand dads and he onces killed a brown bear with it. Now that history come alive)

Sounds kinda interesting, but how'd you manage to carry so many guns, BB rifles, slingshots, etc. with you? Did you have to run back home to get the air rifle, or did you have it strategically stashed in the area you were hunting?

when we after the turkeys i had my slingshot in my pocket and my 380 in my belt hostler, after the kill we went back to his car put the bird in the cooler and i got my H&R which is on a sling and my 2200. I don't own a shotgun anymore and for the turkeys because i was not shooting i was calling.  This was a pot hunt because we were hunting for fun and food, that why we killed a turkey, some rabbit and squirrels, a coon and a beaver( I put a 22 bullet in him but he didn't stop and he drop it with the 20GA.)
