I took a large doe also. Good eating. I got her during late antlerless only season, had to pass on two decent bucks. Very difficult to watch them walk away.

I took one doe. I let a 8 point, 6 point and a spike walk. I let a bunch of button bucks walk also. We practice Quality deer management on our hunting area. I don't want to shoot a buck for the freezer, doe taste better in my opinion. I was hunting for one specific buck this your, but never got a shot at it, he would score about 160 to 170. We found one of his sheds the other day, so we know he made it through hunting season and should be a real monster this year.  ;D

Got 4 altogether, an archery doe and then another during rifle season, then took a real nice 10 pt and the very next weekend got a real nice 8 pt. My son took 5 for the season a small buck with his bow, then 2 does, a 6 pt and 8 pt with a rifle. It has been a blessed season!
Cheers,

I actually got skunked this year... first in many I came home empty handed... but thats ok... I spent most of the trip putting my wife on one.... She shot her first deer this year, her first year hunting. A spike. This is a very big deal because when we met 6 years ago and got married 5 years ago, she was basically anti-hunting. Her parents are about the most anti hunting people I've ever met that arent vegans.

So that was a big deal for me. I'm really proud of her.  She's a natural with a rifle.  Having never shot so much as a BB gun, she put 5 shots inside 1 1/2" at 100 yd.

I did see one shooter 8 pt, the last morning we were there... I was making the rounds checking fences and got an itch in my gut.  Snuck up over a ridge into the wind and watched a BEAUTIFUL 8 pt(probably 120+ class which is huge for our place) grazing.... watched him for probably 30 minutes begging him to grow two more points so I could shoot without breaking the 10's or better rule... I don't like that rule anymore.... LOL

That's my Missouri buck.  My Kansas buck was very similar.  I also shot a doe with my bow.  It was an interesting kill.  It was slightly quartering away and my shot was perfect.  Went through the heart, and out the opposite side arm-pit.  It then smashed into the far side humerous and broke it in half.  It's the first time I've ever seen a "bang-flop" with a bow that didn't hit the CNS.

I got a nice, healthy doe opening day of muzzleloader season and a fat spike on opening day of rifle season. That put about 160 pounds of meat in the freezer. ;D

My first deer was a 12 point, that I shot at running away at an angle at 50 yards. With my Remington 20 gauge in the date was 11-20-04.

Got my largest deer, an eight point that scored 138 and field dressed at 155 lbs.. Not bad for a Florida deer. It was worth fighting the mosquitoes and sand knats.

I harvested this 8 point opening day...

And then i let a LOT of deer go by, day after day... Doe's, little bucks, spikes, and one 5 point...

I even let this 8 point go by...

Plenty of turkeys came by too...

Then yesterday, i harvested this big doe that was limping pretty good from an front shoulder injury... I'm betting she will have a broadhead in her shoulder!

Anyway, i still have some more hunting to do this season yet...

I hit a button buck with my truck, had to follow it and put it down. All i got in Illinois so far. Shot a nine pointer in Wisconsin last weekend. I was supposed to go out this weekend but the weather isn't cooperating. still have muzzle loader next weekend and late firearm season in January so maybe my luck will change.

I was on my way to the mail box, happened to have my 8mauser along. Shot a nice freezer spike.  Got the mail, went home and got the 4 wheeler and fetched my deer.  Hung it in the eaves of the shed and gutted him whilst sipping a cup of hot coffee.  Life is tough in the country.
Been gunning for a cow horned @^&%#!! that I spotted a couple of times earlier this year.  He's got single spikes that have got to be 12-16" long.  I want to get him out of the gene pool but I haven't seen him since season opened.  I haven't heard of anyone else getting him either.

beemanbeme , I know what you mean about the gene pool. I got a spike trying to be a five pt. last evening. I had one of those "you're getting older" moments. I drug that sucker across a shallow ravine and up the bank to the trail on top. I got it near the house but was running out of steam. I had the wife call a neighbor to bring his 4wheeler up. Charlie is a great old guy. He claims not to be worth anything now because of his health but he's worth his weight in gold as a neighbor each and every day.

So far the deer are winning. Missed a nice .doe in early archery and sofar haven't seen anything close enough during slug season. Passed on several yearlings during early bow season. Still ML and more bow season left!

You know, Dave, I learned too late that started out right, nothing beats a couple of teen aged boys hanging around when it comes to deer dragging and fish cleaning and wood chopping and truck washing and grocery eating and such.  I never realized how big a 3 acre yard was until my youngest left home and I had to start mowing it myself.  :-\

Got a doe on opening day of muzzleloader season this year too. Rifle season in Tenn. has been EXTREMELY slow this year so far. Still have the last half of December to go though. 8)
