Got my 45 LC Buffalo Classic Carbine today
« on: December 01, 2007, 01:00:35 PM »
I will do a full range report soon.  Currently have cowboy action loads from Ultramax and Winchester and have ordered two loads from Corbon.  Chronograph is currently broken so I won't be able to give any velocity reports, just general handling and accuracy.  see ya'll at the range!

Sounds great!
I'll be anxiously awaiting to read about the range report.
Are the Corbon loads jacketed and what weight bullets are they?

GOOD SHOOTING!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  Will be testing Corbon DPX 225gr and Corbon 300gr JSP.  Still waiting for them to come in.

Is that carbine drilled and tapped for a scope mount?

ALL current production H&R rifle barrels are drilled and tapped, including the BC carbine. ;)

yes it is, though it would seem (to me) to be a shame to mess up the slick handling qualities of this little carbine with a scope. unless maybe it was a compact 2.5, hummmm...don't get me started this close to Christmas!  ;D

Is that a new brass scope? or one you had laying around?  What's it worth?

I saw that in the FAQ's, but wasn't sure if ALL include the carbine....  Hmmm...now to decide if I should buy the carbine and play with the mannlicher-style forearm that I have, or save $220, and just get the barrel fitted on my camo laminate .280???

It's a rifle barrel, Jim. ;)

Here's a pic of mine in a cinn lam stock set, I figured that would be easier than using a slip on pad on the BC stock after it gets reamed to 460S&W.

Started the ten day waiting period on my CR-45LC and pick it up on 12-11-07.  I’m looking forward to trying it out over the Christmas Holidays.  I reload my own 45 Colt using a Winchester large pistol primer, 8gr of Unique, topped with a 255gr lead SWC.  These loads shoot great in my BlackHawk Convertible and Ruger Old Army with R&D conversion cylinder.

I shoot about that same unique load in my NRV and my CR 45LC.  The handi gives an extra 200 fps over my 7.5" NRV.   My son moslty uses this rifle and shoots 50 yards or less with great results.

The 20" carbine barrel can provide 400-500fps over a 7½" Ruger/FA revolver load with Lil'gun. ;)

While I haven't the jacket covered projectiles at my finger tips yet.  I have driven the 250 grain cast boolits to 1820 fps with Lil'gun out of the CR-45 with no leading.  We all like to shoot this load as well and we had hoped to harvest a deer with it this year but there is always next year.

I love this little gun and can't wait to read more range reports on it.

Hey Swede!
That setup just looks cool as heck!  I can feel another "got to have something like that" coming on!
One question though, how does that BC stock position your head for scope use?

There is one other load I shoot only in my BlackHawk, not the Old Army w/ R&D Conversion Cylinder.  It is 18.8gr of 2400, WLP primer, with a 300gr Sierra JSP.  While my 255gr LSWC, 8gr. Unique, WLP load has an overall length of 1.60" allowing it to chamber in any of my 45 Colts the Sierra 300gr has an overall length of 1.68" which is too long to chamber in my Ruger Old Army R&D Conversion.  It should be close to the Corbon +P 300 gr 45 Colt offering as I doubt a dear or such could not tell the differance if shot with either.
