What do you seem to get your best patterns with? I shot mine yesterday with Winchesters #5, 1 3/4" oz. 3 in shells, I wasn't to impressed. The guy I bought the barrel off of, said Federals Premium 3" 1 5/8 oz #5 were deadly out of it, I just can't find that stuff no where. Let me know, thanks. By the way, it does kick!

I'm shooting the Winchester Supreme, 3", 1 3/4 oz, number 5's.  My friend is shooting the same, only he shoots 6's.  6's shoot fine in my gun, I just prefer 5's.  5's shoot good in his gun, he just prefers the extra pellets that you get with 6's.  Neither of our Encore's shoot 4's worth a darn.  What kind of choke tube are you shooting?  I didn't have much luck with the TC choke tube.  I tried the Primo's Jellyhead, but I now have the Primo's Tightwad.  In my gun  the Tightwad holds  a much better pattern than the other two.

I'm shooting the factory choke. I went out and got some Federal #5s 1 7/8 oz 3", and some Federal #6s 1 7/8 oz 3", to try through it. I'm going to go out tomorrow at lunch if the rain holds out and try it again.

I shoot the 20'" Katahdin barrel and just switched to the Tru-Glo .660" choke(I measured the T/C factory choke at .665").  The only ammo I've tried with the new choke is #5 Remington Nitro Turkey 3"....30yd.....dead bird.  I forget the exact number of hits, but it was plenty.  Then backed off to 40yd., with the same hold and got just as many hits.  I was pushed for time and didn't try 50yd., but with the results I had at 40, I wouldn't be a bit afraid to try it(40 is a looong shot for me).  Yes.....it does.........kick..........a little!      GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt

I just took my Encore 26" w/vent rib, 12 gauge barrel out today and shot 5 different shot sizes, two name brands and it patterned the best with winchester super X , 3", 1 7/8,  #6 shot at 1210fps. I got a better pattern and it seemed to shoot more to point of aim than the others. It did shoot the 2 3/4" shells well but less pellets in the kill area.
I'm shooting the Undertaker by HS Strut, it is the .665 dia.  I'm getting 20-25 pellets in the head/neck area of a Winchester turkey target at 40 yds. Most of my birds have been killed at 20 yds or less lately.
One thing I have noticed is this Encore is a lot lighter than my other shotguns and kicks the snot out of me if I'm not watching what I'm doing. I can't wait until I have to make a shot in a weird position and get smacked.
I tried the TC full choke but could only hold a pattern to about 25 yds.
I can't wait to get out and try it this year.
Here is a bird I got last spring with the Encore and Fed 2 3/4" , #6 shot I patterned it with last year.

I have the 24" turkey barrel in realtree camo with factory fiber optic sights. 

Last year i patterned it using the factory turkey choke tube and 3" Federal #6s.  It patterned great but the pattern is high.  I have the rear sight cranked down all the way and the head of the target is just barely in the bottom of the pattern when aiming at center of neck. 

Last week i shot it again with a recently acquired comp-n-choke tube and the 3" Federal 6s.  Much better pattern but still high.

Wasn't sure what i could do about it, was considering scoping it but hate to spend the money and add weight to the excellently light gun.  Like the F/O sights but want it to be on.

Read recently someone else had this problem and T/C sent them a higher front sight.  Don't know why i didnt think of that, thought they were all one size fits all.  Will measure current height and call tomorrow.

Anybody else heard of this happening?

Drop the Hammer,  Yup, it was me. My barrel shot way high with the rear sight cranked all the way down.  A quick call to TC fixed the problem(at no cost and accompanied with a big apology).  Measure the height of your sight above the barrel and talk to the tech rep at TC and I'm sure he'll fix your problem too.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt
