American made O/U's

Is anyone out there still making these here in America besides Ruger?
Seems that everyone is farming them out to Belgium, Japan, Italy, and Turkey. Did I miss one?

I think Remington makes an occasional O/U in the U.S. We have to give credit where credit is due. The best O/Us are European, and mostly Italian. They're just good at it.  The original idea for moving production of Browning O/Us was to get lower manufacturing costs, so I'm a little surprised that they're not being made in China yet.

Well I'll never buy anything made from those communists no matter how cheap it is. I wasn't taking anything from the Europeans craftsmanship  but I'm American and beleive in supporting American families by buying American made products. There's too many people without jobs because Greedy Corporate America is going south and overseas to save a buck. If this keeps up there will be no middle class, just the rich and the poor!!

One of the top O/U 's is made right here in the good old USA, Wisconsin , home of the Green Bay Packers.  ;D
Here's their website, I own one of  their trap guns and if you want an O/U that's made just for you, you can go to the factory and have it custom fitted to you and pick out the wood you want to use. They even work with lefties like me.

Be careful which Remington you get----they are also importing some Italian O/U's.

Ruger Red Label O/Us are still made in the USA. Remington no longer makes an O/U in the US I believe all are now imported. Don't bet the farm on that but I'm pretty sure they have stopped US production of them.

Conneticut Valley makes some double guns in the US still and perhaps some O/Us but mostly SxS guns.

I'm not sure about Kolar they are an American company but I didn't realize they made the guns here. I'd have to do some checking on that one before I fully accepted it.

If anyone else does I'm not aware of them.

Thanks for all the heads up, I just opened a magazine called Shooting Sportsman and they had an article in there about the SXS made by Connecticut Shotgun and was just about to do a search on 'em before you posted it.

GB, I think you were referring to Connecticut Shotgun MFG Co.? Connecticut Valley (CVA) makes muzzleloaders, they make a shotgun but its a front loader 12 ga.

Yes, you just reworded what I already said. I've never heard of any other Connecticut Valley except for CVA

If I were to make a quality gun I sure would not name the company so closely to a company that has the reputation that CVA does

Graybeard, I can assure you Kolar is totally 100% made in Racine WI. I just came back from having a different rib installed on my Kolar along with buying a new set of O/U barrels for it. They gave us a tour of the shop and it's just one fine gun made by some very talented people. Besides making a great gun for skeet, sporting clays and trap they make some excellent tubes for you skeet shooters.
They produce a very high quality product made here in the USA by Americans.

Kolar makes a VERY fine O/U  starting at over $ 8 0 0 0.  dollars.   I wish I could afford 2.   Or 1.

If I could, I would buy one. 

I'm tired of the government not charging appropriate tariffs on all these imports that cost American jobs.  I'll NEVER forgive clinton for that NAFTA pos.  That's the Only reason imports  are cheaper than domestic products (tariffs).  If we didn't have the import issues perhaps we could have domestic products in a quantity that would lower production costs and prices.  Like the good old days....remember the Winchester model 12s, and the pre-64 everythings.  When there was no such thing as a bad micrometer, or a bad transmission.  Remember the hydramatic transmissions?  Th400s?  327 Chev. V8s?

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I am like you. I buy American made products. I read all the stuff trashing Ruger Red Labels - loose forends, broken extractors, failures to fire, loose ribs, poor customer service, etc., etc., etc...

I bought a 12 gauge Red Label two years ago, and after firing about 3000 rounds hunting, shooting sporting clays and occasionally trap, have experienced absolutely no problems - none, not once. It ejects positively, fires every time, and the forend is as tight as it was out of the box. It also has a beautiful piece of wood on it, straight grained but with a bit of flame on one side. I may have lucked out there since it was ordered for me so I didn't get to look at it first. Personally, spending thousands of dollars on gold inlays and ultra fancy wood is not for me, although if I had that kind of money to spend I might change my mind about that.  Don't get me wrong, I watch out for the Ruger in the woods because I put money aside for a long time to get it, but it is primarily a hunting gun. I wouldn't trade it for any shotgun, at any price.

I see many more posts praising Ruger's customer service than trashing it. Most post are about handguns and rifles. I have sent a revolver to them with excellent results and they are refinishing a No.1 for me now

I with you guy, I've decided after the first of the year to buy a  12 ga. Ruger Red Label. It will be primarily a hunting gun just as you stated yours is.

You may want to consider buying a used Ruger Red Label. There are a lot of them for sale used. At the busy clays range I shoot at there are more classified ads on the bulletin board for Red Labels than for all other guns combined. Most are advertised to be only shot a little. This usually means there's something unappealing to some folks. Before buying one see if it fits and is well balanced and not too heavy. I tried one long ago and forgot why I didn't like it; I just never picked one up again.

Wow I never heard ANY of those things about the Red Label before, where did that info come from? Ruger offers NO WARRANTY on their guns PERIOD. BUT customer service is generally considered to be excellent with them fixing any problem that seems to be the fault of the gun with no questions asked. Customer service is not a weak point of Ruger's.

Most of the reasons folks are selling those Rugers at the range Rudy are most likely cuz of that silly automatic safety Ruger insists on installing. Plus I can't hit a bull in the butt with one and perhaps others are the same. I like the looks and feel of the smaller ones from 20 down to .410 but I've owned two of the 20s and me and them just don't put the patter where I'm looking.

I see a few on the skeet range and they work well but just don't seem to be chosen by many around here. Brownings rule the roost here with Beretta in solid second place followed by Remingtons and Krieghoffs. The Russian guns imported by Remington are beginning to show up more and more.

Oh no! An automatic safety! The worst possible feature on any gun. Certainly has no place on a target gun. I believe the gold label does the same horrible thing.

I really liked the Browning Cynergy as a concept, but when I tried it I wondered who it was designed for. Must be for guys built like Quasimodo. I can't imagine anyone with a neck shooting it well.

One of the shooters at our skeet range shoots a Cynergy and shoots it as well as he ever has any gun he's tried. He's not really one of the better shooters and has always been quite inconsistent some times doing very well and at other times rather poorly. That really hasn't changed but he does shoot it as well as any. He's a tall somewhat lanky guy and yeah he has a neck.

I've felt of it but never fired it. I must admit it feels good in the hand and to the shoulder but it is just too ugly for me to ever own one even if it meant shooting straights every time out.
