DPMS or OLYMPIC
« on: December 16, 2007, 03:28:22 PM »
I am thinking about an AR15 for bench shooting and alittle varmint hunting. I would like a bull barrel version. I dont know much about AR's, but I know I want the most accurate one that I can afford. What is the best for my money, does anyone have any experience with either of these manufactures?? I will have about $800 give or take a few dollars!!

I don't have either, but I do have a Bushmaster Varminter with a 24" barrel.  It is a tack driver!  With my good handloads, I can get less than 1/2" at 100yrds.

I would get the DPMS. I have the AP4 carbine and my buddy has the 24" Bull Bbl. Both are superbly accurate. My carbine will shoot 3/4" @ 100 yds. with my 60 gr. V-Max handloads. :)

I was in the same boat about 1.5 yrs ago.  I did my research and talked to a few people who had both.  I ended up going with an Oly
k16 that i special ordered with some options.  I LOVE the gun.  It was even a little cheaper that the other guns with the same options.
The k16 comes with the bull barrel and Al free float guard as stock.
You will hear a lot from people about brand a vs brand b.  Do your research, stay with the reputable brands and order what you want.
Just remember that most companies out source some parts to other companies.  SO their gun might have parts from the company they are bad mouthing.
