Low Profile Hammer Modification
« on: December 11, 2007, 05:05:04 PM »
Where can i get one of the Hammer extensions that was used in the Hammer Mod listed in the FAQ? It said in the post it was originally for a winchester lever gun 1894? If you know a part number that might help as well. Thanks RG

I got mine from Midway, but they're not available right now.  :-\

Also, GPC has one that they identify as "Hammer Spur Extension for Drilled Hammer":

Lately I've just trimmed the hammer spur a little with the dremel until flush with the top of the factory extension. If it's still to tall, I trim the front shoulders of the hammer extension so it sit lower on the hammer, then trim the spur flush again. This will get the hammer low enough that the extension will hit the barrel release which is too low and you'll need to use a smaller profile hammer extension or trim the barrel release for more clearance.

Can you get another hammer from NEF if you decide to bring it back to its original condition again?

They list the hammer in their parts list, but I don't know for sure that they'll sell it since it needs to be fitted to their standards, IE checked for pull weight, but it is available from Brownell's and Numrich.
