« on: December 01, 2007, 04:55:49 AM »
:'( locally here in wayland, mi have not been able to find, despite having the local smith looking for me as well as visiting Gander mountain and Dick's. I can't get shipped to me, right, it has to to a FFL? The season opens on Dec. 7 and there is no word from anyone as to when 1 will be in. Help anyone, I appreciate it.

The sidekick is not considered a firearm. I tis set up only as a muzzleloader, so does not fall under the rules of an ffl. Cabelas has them on their website the blued one is 170 bucks or there abouts and they can ship it to your door no problem. Hope this helps

thanks, the question of ffl has loomed as I have seen them on the gun auction sites, but they say won't ship to MI residents only to FFL. Thanks for the info, keep your powder dry.

Thanks Tim My apologies for being misinforming. I forget some states are that way. Living in NY the most liberal of states I can get one shipped, I keep thinking it can happen other places. Again my apologies

No biggie, trying to keep up with all state laws could be a full time job!! I know IL has restrictions on muzzleloader sales, but I couldn't find the reason for MI's restrictions on the NRA state gun laws website. :-\

I had my local Wal-Mart's sporting goods department order my Sidekick. It only took a couple of days and their price was the lowest I could find at $157.00. If your Wal-Mart sells firearms they can probably order many different long arms for some of the best prices anywhere. I know the one where I shop does a large number of special orders.

so much good info on the shipping. I like the Walmart idea. There is one close that does sell firearms. As for my icon, it is straight from the graybeard outdoors avatar section, so that can be taken up with someone else. I chose it because where I used to work, I had to deal with customers phone bills, and they would get hosed by A-L for uploading the softgware and not cancelling before the 30 days free use was up. Google AOL cancel, as shown on 60 minutes, they strive to get you to hang up before they cancel (using everything they can from frustration to downright denying to cancel). If it offends I am sorry, and if the powers that be want it removed, fine. Look in the avatar section and remove. I could use any other one, but I like this one.

Although I am sure it is just a "joke", it is not in the best of taste. It could be used as ammo/info/fodder by those wacky "anti's" against those of us who enjoy the shooting sports. it could even be used against this fine site. What a sad state of affairs when we have to worry about things such as this. but unfortunately we do. Regardless of where it came from I must regrettably agree on the inappropriateness of the avatar...<><....:(

What say you persons in power, and Mr. and Mrs. GB as well, is the avatar of a young person shooting someone in the head with a handgun and leaving him against a wall which is covered in blood appropriate for this site and does it help or hinder the shooting sports and this site?....

Isn't that the AOL thing? I have to agree that its inappropriate even though it doesn't bother me. Hollywood gives gun owners a bad representation also.

it is an avatar by complaining about it brings more light to it than just ignoring it.  I never paid attention to it until you guys brought up how inappropriate it is.  So any of these anti's probably would not even pay it any attention without it being pointed out. As unclecheech stated it is on the list of avatars on this site. Stop trying to read too much into things and let it go.  the more you point out how bad it is the more you give ideas to those who want to complain about it.

The "report to moderator" button can be used for such issues, but I PMd Bill about it, there may be others in the gallery that may not be PC anymore.

I don't guess I have a problem with it. For sure it's not as violent as the games kids play these days. I've never been very PC anyway so see no reason we need to be here.

If GB is okay with it that's fine (his site).
But to me it looks like a depressed kid shooting someone for no reason. (In a High School shooting kind of way.)

The AOL thing looked familiar, but didn't think about it being directed at a specific company, rather a person.

Just wanted to point it out.  Not bashing you.

Another one that disturbs me is the black and white one with someone bashing his head against a keyboard until he's bloody and his eyeball swings around and around till it falls out.  Wow, in a car wreck kind of way.

makes me think more of a person who is sick of aol and all the crap it has.  Like I said though the more we point it out and say how it will give others ammo it then is more likely to cuz you planted the seed.
