BC calibers?

Shouldered a BC in 45-70 at the gun show today - right much nice.

I've seen reference to them in 45LC.  Fact or fiction?  Custom?  WHERE can I get one?

I have a CR-45LC.  It is the same concept as the Springfield Carbine (cavalry) shooting a reduced 405gr load and the full size Springfield rifle (infantry) shooting a 500gr 45-70.  Giving you a carbine in 45LC or a full size rifle in 45-70 at a resonable price. The fit and finish of the metal and walnut furniture are very good for those who want a nice action to add barrels to.  Mine is already off to H&R 1871 for a 357 mag barrel and 28" full 12Ga barrel for trap shooting.

It's available as an accessory barrel also, but it's a 20" barrel, not the 22" they list, I had one fitted to a frame when I ordered my .444 barrel, had em add the forend to the order, then put it on it's own frame with a spare BC butt stock I had. Here a my range reports for the 250gr Speer GDHP and 250gr Hornady SST.

I see from the pix in RR that looks like the long barrel, with the stock # is HR BUFFALO CLASSIC 45 COLT 20BBL CSHRD

Am I reading y'all right that this IS the long barrel and not the 20/22" bbl?

If so, that's what I'm looking for.  Tried the .357 in the 20" (accessory program) and the chamber is worse than I could do with a 3/8 drill - WAY too long. (Throat longer than the the longest bullet made in .358 diameter - which is crap for accuracy).

I emailed them when I got it but they apparently don't respond to email.

Long throats in the 357mag barrels is a fact of life, they're all that way. The BC 45 Long Colt carbine barrel is 20" long and has a decent throat, COL for the 250gr Speer bullet is  1.673", .010" off the lands, and 1.9XX"  for the SST.

RR uses the pic of the longer barreled BC or Target for some reason, so do several other retailers for some reason.

I'm looking for a heavy barreled rifle using a straight wall case that is SMALL (this for for punching LOTS of holes in paper at 100 and 200 yards with cast bullets).

21" is the minimum barrel length in some of the matches.

Anyone use the .38-55 in the BC with cast bullets successfully (1" group at 100) ?

The 38-55 Target is an entirely different kettle of fish, they're typically overbore, require .379"-381" cast bullets to shoot well, but complicating that issue is the chamber neck is too small to chamber a round with one of those bullets loaded. There are pages and pages written on them here, but if you can get a 2007 Marlin made barrel, you may get one that will chamber the right size bullet, GBO member Handirifle got one early this year and is shooting Sheycast .379"s in his without having to neck ream it, which is the alternative for the older barrels. There are a couple threads on the 38-55 down the page, and an article on it in the FAQs.
