how many barrels
« on: December 16, 2007, 04:22:11 AM »
How many barrels is enough before starting over with a new handi? I have three for my present gun, 223, 243 &410.  There is couple of more cartridges that I wouldn't mind 30-06, 30-30 &357mag.

Ya know Tim,... everytime I think I have calmed my handiholism, you go and flash that picture and I get that urge again. ;D

For the kids I like having one frame matched to a few barrels for the shooting situation.  But like Tim's opinion its nice to have a dedicated set up.  It depends on the individual.  Especially if you want a deer rig , and a varmit rig.  Of course in may area in PA a varmit rig will take most of our "Big Game" ::)

I like having a straight stock for the open sighted rifles, and the monte's for the scoped ones. But just my opinion.

It depends on your budget too, I can see where having a couple frames and several barrels would offer a definite financial advantage allowing someone to have many chamberings. ;)

Soon I'll be up to three barrels on my Buffalo frame: 45LC, 357 Mag, and 12Ga, only the beginning...

Tim,
What is the long barreled gun with the long forearm on the right side of that picture?

Any chance of seeing a pic of that gun by itself in that configuration?  I apologize for hijacking this thread....

Personally...My limit is 2...I stopped fitting my own a while back...and just let those fine outstanding folks at NEF fit mine for me ( lazy & no time to mess with them) and I trust them to do a better job than I would...Why just 2...simple...if something happens to the receiver...I will only be side lining 2 rifles...not more than that...( that's me being a pessimistic optimist) . :D :D ;)

I have two frames and 3 barrels each. All of them are factory fitted. Well actually I have 1 frame getting fitted for two more barrels right now. All of mine are or going to be factory fitted. I started with a Ultra Varmint in 223 and added 357 and 30-30 barrels to it. I then purchased a 44 mag with plastic stocks and sent the frame in for a super lite 22 Hornet and 444 Marlin. While the frame is in I am also purchasing a Cinnamon Laminated stock and 5 more matching fore ends. That way I will have a fore end for each barrel.
