NEF Youth Model 243 Need Help!!!

My nephews 243 Youth Model NEF  Crackbarrel breaks open when fired did this approx. 6 out of 12 rounds fired. Any body had this problem and or know how to fix.

Approx a total of 25 rounds or less has been fired since bought new approx 2 years ago this Christmas.  All replies appreciated in advance.

It's not poping open when it's shot, it opens after the bullet leaves the barrel, if it opened at the shot, the chamber pressure would push the empty case thru the shooter head!!  :o

Nephew 13 years old. It scared him, it scared him so bad he thought something hit him in head  but it was not be case. What could it have been?

Is it an ejector barrel??

Maybe the brass did hit him in the head when it popped open.


Whatever it was. It's an easy fix!!
