I am relatively new to handguns. I have looked at several models and find that the SIG attracts my attention every time. I noted that The SIG Pro had a 357 SIG and also had an interchangable 40 barrel. Does anyone own this particular pistol? Anyone have an opinion?
The only thing that I worry about is the transition from Double action to single action on the next shot. Is this hard to get used to?

TX, sorry about the delay in answering your post,, having problems getting into the forums,,,

The Pro is an excellent weapon, and yes it can be easily changed from 357sig to 40s&w,uses the same magazines,, the weapon tends to feel a little blocky to me,and about in between the 220/226 and the 228/229 series. If you are going to order it from the factory have them do a trigger job, it helps.. the transition from DA to SA isn't hard just takes some shooting,,if its not what you want  you can always get it in the DAO

i have an sp2340 in .357sig and i think its a fine handgun. i use it for concealed carry in cool to cold weather (sure can't hide this gun under a tee shirt). i use either a kramer "iwb/sheepskin" or a kirkpatrick "s.o.b." holster and at first this gun seems a little bulky but you'll get used to it. my friends like to talk about the power of their .40 smith's and .45 acp's but they don't come close to the .357sig's 575lbs. energy of the cor bon 125gr. load or my equally fast handloads. weighing only 27 ozs. you might expect recoil and there is some but it's the fun kind not the painful kind. and one more thing, i added a uncle mike's rubber slip-on grip and it made the gun a lot easier to control and also feels good in the hand.
thanks,
dave.

When I read the results from the Texas DPS evaluation of the .357 Sig I said I will have one of those.  The .357 Sig was the only round that would consistantly penetrate a vehicle windsheild.  The .40 and 45s would bounce off a slanted windsheild.  With few exceptions, the .357 penetrated the glass and hit the dummy inside the vehicle.

What ever you buy in the Sig, get both barrels.  It only cost a few more dollars to go first class.

Two weeks ago I qualfied for renewal of my CCL.  The other shooters were impressed with the accuracy of the gun and groups I shot.  One said I was showing out, I told him it was the gun.  After shooting 10 round through my 229 (.357) he was all set to buy one for himself.  I had a fifty shot group less than 4 inches.  Not bad for an old blind fart.
