.223 Ultra Varmit Prices
« on: December 17, 2007, 02:30:27 PM »
I just returned from my local dealer and he had one Ultra Varmint Fluted (SB2-F23)
that he said he would take $299 for it.  What are these rifles going for in other places.   He said he ordered it for someone and it turned out to be the wrong gun for him.  Since buying my .308 I've got the bug bad.  I think my boy and I would really enjoy this rifle.  My only draw back is here is more ammo to find.  I'm trying to make my mind up another Handi or reloading equipment first.

HickoryNut ...

Another rifle? ... or ... reloading equipment?

I vote for the reloading equipment ... it will add another whole dimension to your enjoyment of firearms and the outdoors.

For what its worth, I just saw a used Ultra Fluted 223 for $299 with the black "dragunov" style stock.   I had a Ultra Fluted 223 about a year ago, and I parted it out here.  I think I paid around $290 for a special order.   The F23 is the most expensive accesory barrel, so don't worry about resale.  The stock is nice and ergonomic for prone shooting, and the sliding T- rail for a bipod is nice for adjusting gun positions.  The buttstock should also have 2 removable half inch blocks on the back to adjust length of pull.  There are shorter screws hidden in behind the last block in case you remove one or two.

See if you can find ANYTHING wrong with it and talk him down at least 10 bucks.

It does not sound like too bad a price to me. I paid $250 for a Ultra Varmint 223 (not fluted and with cinnamon laminated stock/fore end) three years ago. New plain Jane 44 mags were going for $299 here just a month ago. I bought a special run 44 mag for $250 with plastic stocks.

Well I still haven't decided.  I really don't have an adequate place to reload as of now.  In the future I will!  THe rifle is brand new the guy never took it from the shop.  I also kind of want another hand gun.  Gosh this whole Christmas money thingy is confusing.  Yesterday a 45/70 was screaming at me at another shop but my boy will be made at me if I buy another BIG gun.  He likes shooting .223s.  Quick have you shot your PF-9 yet?  I was looking at them as well.

I just wish we could have a winter again in Alabama.  I don't remember the last real cold weather we had.  Granted it gets cold at times but two days later and it's warm again.
