.410 Slug gun.
« on: December 16, 2007, 06:51:51 AM »
I have been thinking about building a .410 slug gun. Was wondering if anyone has done this with a NEF .410. My Plan is to drill and tap the barrel for a weaver rail and depending on accuracy might do some work to the barrel. Any experience or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Aaron

Thanks for the link. That is basically what I was planning to do. Wish someone had 50yd accuracy reports. I am hoping for decent accuracy out to 100yds. If it won't shoot well out to 100 then I will probably scrap the idea.

Accuracy out to 100yds with a 410 is possible, but havin' enough punch to put a deer down at that distance might be a problem.  Sure, there is always gonna be someone around who has done it or seen it done, but I wouldn't want to rely on a 410 for 100yd shots.  Your shot placement would need to be dead on for sure.  Just my 2 cents

I do believe .410 slugs only weight something like 97 grains...  Pretty puny load for a deer even at 50 yards...

A .410 slug fired from a shotgun has aproximately the same mozzle energy as a .357 magnum out of a six in barrel.

Thing is, a jacketed 357 "bullet" out performs a .410 slug all to he!!.
